What Does the Research Say?

No. There are no needles, and most children feel little or nothing. Some feel a slight tickle.

Is it safe for children?

Laser acupuncture is gentle and generally well tolerated, with few reported side effects. I’ll review your child’s health history first, so please tell me about any medications or health conditions.

Does my child need an ADHD diagnosis first?

Many families come to me with a diagnosis. If you suspect ADHD and your child hasn’t been evaluated, I encourage you to talk with your pediatrician as well. However, I know that the diagnostic process can be frustrating, so if you’re looking for a treatment that may help to calm your child and regulate them, treatment can happen without a diagnosis. 

Can laser acupuncture replace ADHD medication?

It’s meant to be used alongside your child’s care. Please don’t start, stop, or change any medication without your child’s doctor. Having said that, there are studies that show that laser acupuncture is as effective as medication for some cases. 

How many sessions will my child need?

While the first session does usually yield some changes, ADHD typically is not a quick fix situation. A full treatment protocol takes many weeks to complete. We’ll talk about a realistic plan at your first visit.
